Peat Drying

My company is searching for a supplier of specific drying equipment technology for peat or peat moss. Which suppliers make such equipment? - M.S.

We have done a fair amount of research and development as well as production work on drying peat moss or peat. The type of dryer depends to a large extent on the market value of the final product. If the peat only will be used as a fuel, the age-old method of natural drying in the sun is cost effective. Using fuel to dry the peat would yield a poor economic trade-off.

If the dry peat is intended for a higher value use, various conventional batch or continuous drying systems can be used. In that case, we would suggest that the questioner commission some laboratory test work and scale the results up. - George E. Heath, P.E., Thermovation Engineering, (440) 516-2380 or e-mail solutions@thermovation.com.
