The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded 12 states a total of $9 million through its Industrial Technologies Program to deliver industrial energy efficiency programs to local manufacturers.
The projects will help local and regional manufacturers meet energy reduction goals of 25 percent in 10 years through energy assessments, software tool training, project implementation assistance and more. Industrial energy efficiency begins with individual plants finding ways to reduce energy use and related costs. The dozen projects aim to transform the face of industrial energy efficiency at the local level by leveraging the program’s technical resources to implement activities such as energy assessments, training in ITP software tools, technology demonstrations, and energy management certification pilot programs.
