Metso Minerals Supplies Lime-Calcining Plant
Metso Minerals will supply a lime-calcining plant to Graymont for its Cricket Mountain lime plant in Utah. The order, valued at approximately $10.72 million, comprises a lime-calcining plant with a low pressure drop (LPD) preheater system as well as erection and commissioning services from the Danville, Pa.-based manufacturer. Delivery will be completed by the end of the year.

Metso Minerals Supplies Graymont Lime PlantMetso’s system will be the fifth lime-calcining line in the Cricket Mountain lime plant. When the delivery is complete, the production of high quality quicklime will increase from current annual production of approximately 992,000 tons (900,000 tonnes) to 1.4 million tons (1.3 million tonnes). The new calciner is similar to a calcining system Metso supplied Graymont in 2005.

The Cricket Mountain plant is one of the largest lime plants in the western United States. The plant manufactures a range of bulk high calcium and dolomitic quicklime as well as crushed and pulverized limestone products.

Yili's corn yogurtAPV Supports China’s Biggest Dairy
A new yogurt plant is being built in Suzhou, near Shanghai, by the Yili Group, China’s largest and fastest growing dairy manufacturer. Upon completion, the facility will produce cheese and pasteurized milk in addition to a range of yogurts. The Beijing, China-based dairy processor has a turnover rate of more than $1.25 billion and a growth rate of more than 40 percent per annum.

APV China is providing turnkey services to the firm, making this first facility to be provided by APV to Yili. APV customers can read more about the plant, as well as other company updates, in APV’s new magazine, " Your APV."

It's probably no exaggeration to say that we can do the same risky thing 99 times out of 100 and get away with it. We take our luck for granted and continue our foolish ways, but if we happen to be in the wrong place that 100th time, we become one of the unlucky other guys. And that's the problem with luck: It isn't foolproof.

10 Tips for Selecting Process Heaters
Although many different heater designs are available, not all will be suitable for your specific process. Study your application and look at a number of factors before deciding on a specific design.

Getting the Most From Your Coil
When searching for a new heat exchanger, consider a custom-designed coil. The following tips will help you determine if a custom-designed unit will benefit your process.

Combustion System Care
Instead of howling about energy costs and indications that gas costs are going to remain double what they have been in recent years, you can begin to save valuable energy dollars by conducting routine maintenance and using common sense.

Improving Conveyor Dryer Operation
Convection conveyor dryers are large consumers of production line power and gas. Small increases in operational efficiency can produce large savings.

PRODUCTS

ThermoProTP8Thermal, Visual Camera
With Bluetooth voice-recording technology, ThermoProTP8 has a measurement range of -4 to 1,472°F (-20 to 800°C). The thermal imager uses a 384 × 288 infrared camera and a color 1280 × 1024 visual camera. Users can capture thermal and visual images simultaneously, record dynamic radiometric sequences of moving targets in real-time, and store up to 1,000 images on a 2 GB memory card. Automatic capabilities include hot-spot and image-center detection. Preferred operational settings can be saved and recalled.

Dwyer RHLHumidity, Temperature Transmitter
Series RHL provides a stable, repeatable means of measuring humidity only or humidity and temperature. The polymer capacitance sensor is not affected by condensation, fog, high humidity or contaminants, and the sensor is designed for years of calibration-free service. The two-wire transmitter has a 4 to 20 mA loop powered output. The humidity/temperature version provides dual 4 to 20 mA output signals with an accuracy of ±3 percent relative humidity and ±0.9°F @ 72°F (±0.3°C @ 25°C).

Hirschmann

Network Management in SCADA Systems
Industrial HiVision Operator Edition 3.0 integrates information such as the device status, link status or network load directly into SCADA systems via an OPC Data Access 2.0 server. The network management software, which is available for both the Windows 2000/XP and Linux operating systems, also supports automatic detection of network topology via LLDP (link layer discovery protocol) to minimize initial configuration work. As a result, network components and end devices such as PLCs or I/O components can be displayed and monitored within minutes of installing the software.
