ElectraTherm commissioned six Power+ generators in the United Kingdom in 2016, with 10 machines scheduled for commissioning in the first half of 2018. Power+ generators utilize various forms of biomass, from woodchips to chicken manure, to generate emission-free electricity and increase on-site efficiency for increased revenue.
ElectraTherm, which announced its acquisition by Bitzer in January 2017, utilizes organic rankine cycle (ORC) and proprietary technologies to generate power from low temperature heat ranging from 170-251°F (77-122°C). Woodchips or poultry manure are used as a fuel source to fire a biomass boiler producing useful thermal heat. The heat is used to dry biomass or heat buildings, and now the hot water is utilized as fuel for the Power+. The clean electricity produced is sold back to the utility at an incentivized rate.
