Hurricane Harvey Moves Turbomachinery Meeting to December
The 46th Turbomachinery and 33rd International Pump Users Symposia (TPS 2017) will now be held December 12-14, with short courses held December 11. The conference and exposition, sponsored by the Turbomachinery Lab at Texas A&M University, was delayed when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. With the George R. Brown Convention Center in use as a hurricane rescue shelter, extensive flood damage throughout the city and heavy rains forecasted, TPS was rescheduled.
In addition, the Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M University has partnered with New Way Air Bearings to launch #TPSHelpsHouston, a fundraising campaign to provide relief to Houston-area residents affected by Hurricane Harvey. Donations will be processed by ShelterBox USA, a nonprofit that supplies aid to those displaced by disaster. All funds raised through #TPSHelpsHouston will support emergency shelter efforts in Houston and nearby regions.
Those registered for the original dates do not need to re-register; however, new housing and flight accommodations must be secured. To learn more, and stay abreast of recent updates and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the TPS website.
