How can I convert a forced air heating system to radiant heating system?

I have a process currently using forced heated air. The heat source is approximately 1 to 5" from the product. I would like to evolve to a radiant heat system that would cover a 2 to 4" dia. area. The infrared system could be thermostat or variac controlled, but it needs to be in the 500 to 1,000oF (260 to 538oC) range. What is the best way to do this? -- D.H.

Tungsten lamps (short wavelength infrared) would provide the temperature range desired, assuming the target material is acceptable. Check with Research Inc. at (612) 941-3300 or http://www.researchinc.com. -- Victor Burt, Thermowave Technology, (860) 767-3146 or victor.burt@snet.net.
