Here's a chance to give and get help from colleagues, suppliers and other experts in the field of heat processing.

My company builds an all-carbon fiber racing catamaran, and we are in the process of tooling up to use thermoset prepreg epoxy for our hulls. We have a 4 x 6 x 22' oven and need to ramp up to 200°F (93°C) at 2 to 6°F per minute and hold for 3 hr. What heating elements or process controls do I need? Who can evaluate our needs? - P.B.

To achieve a programmed temperature rise, a "ramp/soak" temperature controller must be installed to replace the present temperature controller. Most controller manufacturers offer one. To achieve the desired result, however, the oven must have sufficient heat input and heat transfer capability. This requires a review of the oven's design and capabilities. - George E.
