Infrared tips and tricks, case histories and technology information were the focus of a two-day seminar held in October. Sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and endorsed by Process Heating magazine, "Infrared Technology and Applications" clinic provided attendees with the how-to information they needed to solve their infrared-related processing problems.
Session topics included the fundamentals of infrared; in-process infrared oven temperature profiling; how to select and specify an infrared oven; applications for infrared; comparison of infrared emitters; using infrared and powder coatings together; and process monitoring using infrared technology. An evening tabletop reception allowed attendees to network with speakers and exhibiting companies to learn more about options for infrared technology.
SME plans to offer the infrared clinic in 2001. For more information, call SME's Kim Farrugia at (313) 271-1500, ext. 2109, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
