National Electrical Manufacturers Association released ICS 19-2002, Industrial Controls and Systems: Diagrams, Device Designations, and Symbols.

National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Rosslyn, Va., released ICS 19-2002, Industrial Controls and Systems: Diagrams, Device Designations, and Symbols.

"ICS 19 satisfies the need for a 'stand-alone' reference for those communicating industrial control device information on diagrams and other written documents," according to Richard Schneider, manager of engineering and quality assurance at Josslyn Clark Controls.

"This information was heretofore included in Clause 9 of the more comprehensive ICS 1. The document includes certain definitions to aid in standardizing communications, both via graphical presentation as well as other written and verbal conveyances, of information often used in industrial control and systems. It serves as a catalyst to help insure that the intent of the author and interpretation of the reader is synonymous," he says.

To purchase ICS 19 for $57.00, call (800) 854-7179 or (303) 397-7956; fax (303) 397-2740 or visit www.global.ihs.com. It also can be downloaded for free from NEMA's website at www.nema.org.
