Employees at Colmac Coil Manufacturing Co., Colville, Wash., got a rare treat last year when the company's president Bruce Nelson took a chilly dive into the test tank.
A loyal customer had requested that a coil be made and shipped in one month -- about half the time it normally takes. It was then that Nelson told employees that if they could figure out a way to accomplish the goal, he would take a swim in the test tank.
The team worked hard and smart, and the challenge was met. Nelson made good on his bet as employees watched him dive into the 52oF (11oC) test tank, where blocks of ice were still melting.
