Drying to moistures of 0.5 percent to 0.1 percent or lower requires uniform heating and residence time. The mixing action of the paddle dryer's dual intermeshing agitators with heated wedge-shaped paddles provides for uniform heat transfer to the product and high heat transfer rates. Because the dryer is indirectly heated, the amount of off-gas is minimal. Heating can be done with steam or thermal fluid, up to 750oF (399oC).
