Point-and-shoot infrared thermometer can make noncontact hot and cold surface-temperature measurements of a pinpointed target area. It also provides direct-contact measurements using any K-type thermocouple probe with a mini-style plug. Model DT1100 uses a micro-electromechanical system infrared sensor with advanced optics and low voltage circuitry. It operates in the range of -76 to 932°F (-60 to 500°C).
