Des Champs Technologies, Natural Bridge Station, Va., and Venmar CES Inc., Saskatoon, Canada, have resolved a patent dispute between the two parties. Des Champs owns the U.S. patent “Heat Recovery Ventilating Dehumidifier.”

In 1993, Des Champs was granted the patent for the device that uses air-to-air heat exchangers to recover energy from exhaust air and to precool warm, humid outdoor air; cool and dehumidify it in a cooling coil; and then reheat it to a neutral temperature dry condition. This product has come to be known as the Des Champs Wringer Plus. The technology is used in industrial processes, laboratories and buildings.

Venmar CES has agreed that the patent covering the Des Champs Wringer Plus technology is valid.
