Oil Leak Detection for Heat Exchangers

Designed specifically for high temperatures and pressures, Series C provides continuous, online oil-in-water monitoring. Models TD-4100 C and the TD-4100 XDC can detect and measure oil, fuel, crude oils and most heat transfer fluids in water from low ppb (microg/L) to high ppm (mg/L). The monitoring instrument is suited for use with steam condensate and cooling water in power plants and other industrial applications. The TD-4100 XDC is designed for severe-duty and hazardous area requirements. Both instruments use UV fluorescent technology that resists interferences from turbidity and suspended solids. No chemicals, pretreatment, mechanical manipulation or mixing of the sample is required.

Brazed Heat Exchangers Provide Vigorous Turbulence

Manufacturers of boilers and snow-melt systems rely on compact brazed plate heat exchangers to meet design objectives. Standard “P” types offer AISI 316L stainless steel plates and connections with copper brazing. Units are rated for 450 psig at 383°F (195°C). Principal system design includes a primary heat source such as a boiler and a secondary loop such as a snowmelt circuit. Sanitary instant hot water also can be produced from this system with the use of appropriate controls. ParaBrazed plate heat exchangers have no gaskets, tie bars, top or bottom bars. The individual plates are permanently brazed together in a vacuum furnace, which produces a compact heat exchanger without gaskets. The interlocking corrugations provide numerous contact points and form a complex channel system, through which the media flows with vigorous turbulence, ensuring that the smallest possible plate size is capable of maximum possible heat transfer.

Fluid Cooler Selection Software

The latest version of Dryware software is able to size air-cooled condensers in addition to fluid (dry) coolers. The program will rate a standard or custom air-cooled condenser or fluid cooler using coil algorithms rather than tables or estimations. It allows the user to customize a fluid cooler or air-cooled condenser by varying rows, fins per inch, fin height, fin length, motor horsepower, fan diameter or fan layout. Software produces accurate submittal drawings complete with drawing number, editable notes and unit performance data. Included with the software user guide are engineering specification sheets, product literature, model nomenclature and help file.
