Two moisture separator reheaters (MSRs), supplied to Detroit Edison for installation in its 1,100 MW Fermi 2 Power Plant, are the two largest pressure vessels supplied by Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. (TEi) in the company's 90-year history.

MSRs improve the efficiency of the turbine by drying and reheating the steam between the HP and LP turbines, which has the additional benefit of reducing erosion of the LP turbine blades. Each MSR is 13' dia., 110' long and weigh 300 tons. The vessels, which were designed at TEi's corporate headquarters in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and fabricated in its factory in Sapulpa, Okla., were shipped by special train to the plant located near Detroit.

TEi is a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., Danvers, Mass., a company that designs, manufactures and services heat recovery steam generators, heat exchangers and environmental solutions.
