A high-volume commercial printing company has installed a 6,000 scfm regenerative thermal oxidizer to improve emission control and save energy.

Specialty Printing in Charleroi, Pa., which uses web-offset heatset equipment to print direct mail advertising pieces, connected two of its three presses, Harris models M1000 and M1000A, to the oxidizer from CMM Group LLC, De Pere, Wis. With the new oxidizer, the two full-web presses will allow the company to control emissions and reduce its natural gas costs. According to CMM, after installation, an independent environmental testing firm verified that the new unit was destroying more than 99 percent of the VOC emissions generated from the printing operations.
