A heat exchanger is a pressurized vessel that is designed to operate below specific pressure and temperature limits. The cooling or process system, which includes the heat exchanger, must be safeguarded with safety valves and controls so that these heat exchanger design conditions are not exceeded. Make sure that all operating personnel are aware of the specific design pressures and temperatures.
When cleaning the heat exchanger, make sure you understand the full characteristics of the fouling material and the cleaning agent, and exercise care in handling these materials according to instructions. Use eye protection and wear a respirator when required.
Brazed plate heat exchangers have exposed sharp metal surfaces. Protective gloves are recommended during handling.
