Spirax Sarco Inc. set aside May 16 to celebrate a century in business and a successful decade in Blythewood, S.C. State and local dignitaries, guests, field representatives from across the country and plant staff joined in the celebration on the Blythewood campus with lunch, musical entertainment, award ceremonies, plant tours and other activities.

Featured speakers included U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson; S.C. Senator Kay Patterson; S.C. Representative John L. Scott, Jr.; S.C. Dept. of Commerce COO David Logsdon; Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc Divisional Director Tony Scrivin. SSI President and General Manager Pat Tillisch served as master of ceremonies. Representatives from the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Midlands Technical College readySC Program and the Central SC Alliance also were present.

Sen. Patterson and Rep. Scott jointly presented a proclamation from the South Carolina House and Senate recognizing SSI’s impact on the state’s economy. S.C. Dept. of Commerce COO David Logsdon presented SSI with a commissioned sculpture in honor of its significance of a South Carolina manufacturer.

After lunch, SSI management presented service awards for employees and manufacturers’ representatives, patents and special honors. According to SSI President Tillisch, "This year, we are celebrating not only a centenary but also our 10th year in the Columbia, SC, community. It is fitting that we pause to recognize and thank all who have been a part of our success. It is their dedication that will carry Spirax Sarco into our next century."
