As Calcarb nears completion of its new facility in Eurocentral, Scotland, the company has installed a row of new retorts.

Though construction continues, Calcarb Ltd. is nearing completion on the expansion of its global headquarters and manufacturing plant. The Eurocentral, Scotland-based manufacturer of high purity carbon-bonded carbon fiber (CBCF) rigid insulation and precursor materials expects the new facility to triple production capacity.

The purpose-built facility is projected to be fully operational by fall. The company has installed 90 percent of the production equipment, some of which was moved from its Bellshill facility. New equipment, including ultra high finishing furnaces capable of processing to 4,352°F (2,400°C), chemical vapor deposition (CVD) furnaces for coating and densification, and CNC machines, also has been installed.

Calcarb has moved its offices and staff from Bellshill and successfully completed first mold runs as well as first high-fire runs. Investment has been made in the latest technology to address environmental regulations, enhancing Calcarb’s commitment to its environmental management systems (ISO 14001).
