Precision Control Systems Inc. (PCS), a manufacturer of power control systems, custom industrial ovens and heaters, acquired Research Inc., a manufacturer of infrared heating systems. Both companies are based in Eden Prairie, Minn. The transaction was effective September 1, 2007.
Research Inc. was established in 1952 to develop infrared-based heating systems for the aerospace industry. Since then, the company's product offerings have expanded into industrial heater and integrated heating system applications. The company specializes in heating systems for extruded materials such as tubing, belting, hose, cable, wire, extruded profile shapes and more.
“Our sales, engineering and production are all former RI personnel and have a combined Research Inc. employment in excess of 200 years,” said Terry Nigon owner of Precision Control Systems Inc. Additionally, four experienced Research Inc. personnel, sales, customer service, field service and engineering joined PCS to make the transition seamless. According to Precision Control Systems Inc., the combined company will allow the infrared heater maker to focus entirely on product development, customization of standard heaters and heating systems.
