No-cost classes have been added to the ECD University program cover temperature profiling basics and verification procedures.

ECD, Milwaukie, Ore., provides the one-hour classes via instructor-led live webcasts with question-and-answer time available. ECD, a manufacturer of thermal profiling equipment and software, has taught more than 2,000 students.
  • “Profiling A-Z” teaches course attendees how to determine which points (trouble spots and at-risk/sensitive components) to profile; thermocouple attachment methods; and the core steps to profiling success. Topics include how to generate an oven recipe and how to document results to build an SPC database.
  • “Verification 101” shows how reflow oven verification is a key, yet often missing, stage in any complete thermal quality management program. When used in its totality, a good program can reduce scrap and increase yield in the reflow solder process.
