Corrosion-resistant tantalum alloys are used in process applications involving aggressive, acidic environments, but they can experience hydrogen embrittlement. According to the company, Ultra 76 tantalum alloy provides improved resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and enhanced corrosion resistance: rates one to two orders of magnitude lower than those of conventional tantalum alloys. The alloy has comparable mechanical properties to those of conventional tantalum alloys.
