MultiTherm LLC has some suggestions to help you stop the problem. Below are the causes of pluggage and the solutions.

CAUSE: Contamination
SOLUTION: Filtration. Use a side stream filter system to remove particle.

CAUSE: Contamination
SOLUTION: Strainer. Install a 100-mesh basket strainer on the pump suction line.

CAUSE: Contamination
SOLUTION: Heat Transfer Fluid. Drain, clean and refill.

CAUSE: Oxidation
SOLUTION: Expansion Tank. Seal off expansion or reservoir tank with a cold seal pot or nitrogen blanket on vapor space. Relocated tank far enough from active loop so that it remains "cold" during operations.

CAUSE: Thermal Cracking
SOLUTION: Procedures. For startup, allow fluid to circulate cold before turning on heaters to obtain a reasonable flow rate. Then set the heating process by 20-25 degrees to 200°F. After 200°F, you can dial up to operating temperature. For shut down, turn off heater and allow temperature to drop to 200°F before shutting off pump. Avoid hot shut down, which can overheat the fluid. Set flow controls so that a full design flow is maintained through the heater at all times.
