Learn how to prepare process equipment for freezing temperatures by attending a webinar series hosted by Pittsburgh-based Chromalox. Five sessions are planned in the series:
  • "Learn How to Test Heat Trace Freeze Protection Systems Before Cold Weather Arrives"
    September 1 at 11 a.m. EST

Simple cable testing methods can help to identify problem areas. During the online seminar, attendees will learn how to run megger tests on heat trace cable, conduct resistance checks and determine end-of-circuit voltage and stabilized current measurements for heat trace circuits. The testing skills learned in the session will help technicians conduct tests in the proper manner for best results, and will help management staff to understand test procedures and tell them what to look for in a preseason system audit.

  • "Ensure Optimum Performance of Your Facility's Freeze Protection Equipment"
    September 8 at 11 a.m. EST

When cold weather strikes, a freezeup could cause process downtime and potentially damage a facility. By conducting routine maintenance on freeze-protection equipment in the fall, a company can prevent major problems later. This webinar will review freeze-protection products and potential issues that may occur with them. Attendees will learn about the on-site checks and measures that can be made to ensure the equipment operates when it is needed most.

  • "Selecting the Right Sensor for Your Application"
    September 22 at 11 a.m. EST

Selecting the right sensor for a process is critical to proper system operation. Choosing the proper temperature sensor relies on proper understanding the application, the environment that it will realize and mastering installation/maintenance concerns. The webinar will review the following considerations: sensor accuracy requirements, process environment, ambient conditions, placement in the process, proximity to the control system and installing and replacing the sensor.

  • "Heat Transfer System Applications"
    September 29 at 11 a.m. EST

Electric heat transfer systems can provide years of clean, dependable service. Yet to achieve maximum life out of any unit, proper design, installation and maintenance techniques must be followed to avoid equipment freezeups. The webinar will present an overview of heat transfer systems. Topics include pump selection, piping layout, startup, valve location and equipment maintenance.
Chromalox also will host a space and comfort heating webinar on September 15.
