Ebm-Papst, Mulfingen, Germany, has acquired a portion of the gas-valve product group for wall-mounted and floor-standing gas boilers from Karl Dungs GmbH & Co. KG, in Urbach, Germany.

Ebm-Papst, a maker of fans and motors, made the heating technology acquisition as "an important step towards our strategic expansion of this market segment," says Hans-Jochen Beilke, Ebm-Papst Group's board chairman.

Dungs, which specializes in gas, safety and control technology, supplies the heating and process heat industries. Transfer of the GasBloc valve business area for residential heating technology with rated heat output up to 80 kW took place in the form of an asset deal.

Karl Dungs has said the sale aligns with its strategy to focus on "mechatronic" systems in combustion engineering. Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, computer engineering, control engineering and systems design engineering to create useful products.
