Here are a few ways to handle condensation and scale in boilers.

TIP 1:To minimize condensation problems associated with steam discharge, always:
  • Pitch steam and condensate pipes a minimum of 2" per 10'.
  • Insulate piping with a minimum of 2" high temperature insulation.
Of course, the best alternative is to locate your electric steam boiler close to your steam process.

TIP 2:To minimize the buildup of calcium and other mineral deposits in the boiler:
  • Use a commercial water softener for feed.
  • Blow down the boiler daily and ensure the blowdown is safely piped.
A specially designed autoflush product will provide a timed daily blowdown on systems not running continuously.
