A silicone-free defoamer for industrial coating applications from BASF, Florham Park, N.J., suits a range of solvent-borne coating systems. It can be used for pigmented and non-pigmented systems.

Efka 2010 has high defoaming efficiency and no influence on gloss, according to BASF, which notes that clarity within the formulation is maintained both prior to and after curing. BASF says this enables the production of no-defect, high quality surfaces for industrial coatings. Efka is compatible nitrocellulose/alkyd lacquers, 2k polyurethane-, stoving- and acid-cured coatings, as well as cold-cured epoxy coatings. Applications include the automotive industry, furniture and flooring.
