The coating and drying sections at a cardboard-making plant in Mexico will be overhauled to increase capacity and production speed. Metso, Helsinki, will rebuild the folding boxboard machine at the San Juan del Río mill of Cartones Ponderosa S.A. de C.V.
The drying section rebuild will increase drying capacity with
two Metso OptiDry vertical impingement dryers. The coating station replacement is
with an OptiLayer curtain coater and a coating-color supply system to improve folding
boxboard quality. The rebuilt PM 1 will produce folding boxboard in the basis weight
range of 235 to 490 g/m
2. Startup is scheduled for second quarter 2012.
Cartones Ponderosa produces more than 50 percent of all Mexican-made
recycled coated board. Metso is a global supplier of sustainable technology and
