A new powder coating study based on surveys and interviews with U.S. companies has identified 21 market segments that spell opportunity for powder coaters.
"Project Expand," commissioned
by the Powder Coating Institute in The Woodlands, Texas, and conducted by
Chemmark Consulting Group Inc., Southern Pines, N.C., indicates that the
segments carry a total potential value of more than $4 billion.
Of the 21 segments that hold the most
promise, five are within the markets that powder coatings currently serve, four
are adjacent to the typical or current areas, and 12 are in markets not
previously penetrated by conventional powder coating systems.
The 142-page report is available as a CD
or hard copy. Cost depends on the type of PCI membership the purchaser has, but
the report also is being sold to nonmembers. To order the study, go to
www.powdercoating.org and click on the "Project Expand" logo.
