A wood-cellulose fibers facility near Perry, Fla., had a significant failure of a steam dryer drum on the No. 2 paper machine, damaging multiple drums as well the paper machine building. There were no injuries.

The plant, owned by Buckeye Technologies Inc., Memphis, was shut down, and contractors and structural engineers are investigating the cause.

“Buckeye can and will repair the damage to the No. 2 machine and the building,” says CEO John Crowe. “The safety of people is our highest priority, and we are thankful there were no injuries in this significant incident.”
