Metso, Helsinki, Finland, will supply Jönköping Energi’s combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Torsvik, Sweden, with a new biofuel-fired boiler. It will serve as a mid-load unit for the district heating and electric power needs of Jönköping municipality.

The expansion and modernization of the plant will replace old systems using refined biofuels with systems that use biomass fuels. The new boiler, which uses bubbling fluidized bed technology (BFB), will mainly be fueled with wood chips.

The expanded CHP plant will be commissioned during the fall of 2014.
