Vimmerby Energi & Miljö AB will install a biomass-fired power plant from Helsinki-based Metso for combined heat and power production in the city of Vimmerby, Sweden.

The order, worth approximately $32.5 million, includes equipment that will supply steam to a local brewery, hot water to local industries, and district heating for the city. Startup is scheduled for the end of 2014.

The electricity produced will be distributed to the national grid. Designed for unmanned operation, the plant will use local forest residues such as bark and wood chips as fuel.
