Three thermal fluid heating systems with a total capacity of 2.7 MW have been supplied by Babcock Wanson UK to the Azzawiya Oil Refining Co. for use at its Benghazi Asphalt plant in Libya.

The TPC LN thermal fluid heaters have been built for external operation and will be used to heat three large heavy fuel oil (HFO) and vacuum gas oil (VGO) storage tanks. Babcock Wanson UK’s scope of supply included the complete thermal and system design for the upgrade, including the supply of 18 in-tank heat exchangers.

The systems have been installed as part of major plant upgrade that also has included a move from steam to thermal fluid heating for improved efficiency and ease of operation.
