Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers
APV gasketed plate heat exchangers are offered in sizes from 1.5 to 20" connection size for industrial markets. Features include glue-free gaskets that allows for fast gasket changeouts, and the gaskets can be reused after plate cleaning. The exchangers’ simple, efficient design allows users to recover more waste heat for reuse while reducing energy use and cost. Manufactured in the United States, the exchangers have a shorter lead time and lower shipping expenses than those manufactured in other countries.

Heat Exchangers Have Anti-Microbial Fins
Research has shown that exposure to the surfaces of certain metal alloys will kill cultured colonies of E.coliand L. monocytogeneswithin just a few hours at temperatures as low as 39°F (4°C). A heat exchanger with a proprietary fin design exhibits aggressive anti-microbial behavior, equivalent corrosion resistance to stainless steel, and similar heat transfer performance to standard coil construction. Designed for food processing applications where there is concern about possible food contamination with pathogens, the heat exchangers eliminate the need for coatings that can chip and flake off.

Stainless Steel, Sinusoidal Plate Heat Exchangers
Exothermics SP provides high heat transfer effectiveness, produced by corrugating the heat transfer plates to achieve the proprietary sinusoidal wave pattern. The corrugated surface creates airflow turbulence as the air passes through the unit. Heat transfer is further enhanced by using a counterflow design. The heat exchangers include fully welded stainless steel construction for durable performance and maximum efficiency. The 304 stainless steel construction is suitable for applications up to 1,200°F (650°C) and the exchanger is offered with 0.5 and 0.375" (12.7 and 9.5 mm) plate spacing.
Heat and Energy Recovery with Heat Exchangers
Company designs, manufactures and installs energy-recovery systems that decrease energy consumption and reduce operating costs. Each system is custom engineered and can incorporate air-to-air heat exchangers (shell-and-tube, plate type); air-to-water heat exchangers (economizers); air-to-steam heat exchangers (waste heat boilers); and air-to-fluid heat exchangers.

Industrial Coils for Heating, Cooling, Refrigeration
Heatcraft steam, liquid heating, cooling and refrigeration coils are custom designed for specific application requirements. Copper, stainless steel or carbon steel tubes are offered with aluminum, copper, stainless steel or carbon steel fins. Cleanable cooling and heating coils in 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12-row models are furnished with removable carbon steel heads on either one or both ends. One or two rows are furnished with removable brass threaded plugs on either or both ends.

Recovery Heat with Tubular Exchangers
Using Thermo-T, energy can be recovered and returned as process makeup air, used to preheat combustion air or used for plant or office heating. Designed to recover heat from energy-consuming processes up to 2,000°F (1,083°C), the shell-and-tube heat exchanger offers fully adjustable tube size and spacing as well as both single-pass and multi-pass models. Tubes are mechanically expanded into and then fully welded to the tubesheet, which provides a double-layer of protection to guard against cross-contamination.
Heat and Cool Low Pressure Gas Streams
Applications for the Series C include aftercooling, dehumidifying and heating rotary-lobe and multistage centrifugal blowers used in air separation and printing systems. The modular heat exchanger has removable cores via the front and back sides of the pressure housing without disassembly of the gas line. Pressure tests from a full vacuum to 50 PSIG are available. Heat exchanger housings can be built to contain several cores with separate or shared access panels. Mist eliminators also can be built into a housing to prevent condensed moisture from carrying downstream.
Coating Adds Corrosion Resistance to Carbon Steel Heat Exchangers
Company has partnered Saekaphen to apply its protective coating to line the interior tube surfaces of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The patented process for lining straight and U-tubes bundles provides carbon steel with corrosion resistance equal to high-grade alloys, copper, brass and most specialty metals. The coatings also resist fouling and reduce maintenance costs. By providing a smooth, glossy surface for fluid flow, they lower pressure drop through the tubes with minimal effect on heat transfer.

Heat Exchangers, Heating and Cooling Coils
Heating and cooling coils and heat exchangers are designed for the demands of corrosive chemical heating in standard and custom configurations. Materials of construction include fluoropolymer, titanium, 316 stainless steel, plain steel and exotic metals such as zirconium. Most of the company’s heat exchangers are open-tank designs; however, inline designs such as stainless steel spiral-plate units are available.
Design Permits Inspection, Maintenance of the Tubes Without Draining
Basco Type OP incorporates a double O-ring sealed floating tubesheet that provides leak detection and eliminates the possibility of overtightening bolts, avoiding damage to the O-rings. Dome-type shell nozzles are available for higher flow rates at lower pressure drops. It provides highly efficient heat transfer with either bare or low fintubes due to tight tolerances with baffles that minimize fluid bypass. The heat exchanger’s construction permits inspection and maintenance of the tube side of the bundle without draining the shell side or disturbing the piping.

Exchangers for Simple Fluids, Viscous Solutions or Particulates
Designed to provide efficient heat transfer when processing simple fluids, viscous solutions or particulates, plate heat exchangers are offered in many sizes, alloys and frame configurations. The embossed pattern of Accu-Therm plates promotes high turbulence at low fluid velocities that results in high heat transfer coefficients. Close approach temperatures of 1 to 2°F are possible because of the true countercurrent flow and high heat transfer efficiency of the plates.

Exchangers for Natural Gas Liquefaction and Regasification
Laser-welded cassettes (LWC) and GEABloc help ensure that problems do not occur in the compression, cooling and regasification of liquefied cargo. Natural gas is liquefied to save space and make it easier to transport. Laser-welded cassettes, intended for use in refrigeration systems, have been optimized with respect to the special requirements placed by the oil and gas industry, particularly in offshore applications.

Fluoropolymer Heat Exchangers Designed for Heat, Cool in Corrosive Applications
Designed to be utilized in process applications that heat or cool highly corrosive fluids such as ammonium hydroxide
as well as sulfuric and hydrochloric acids, fluoropolymer heat exchangers are offered in immersion and shell-and- tube styles. The exchangers are inert to nearly all process chemicals, are less brittle than glass and graphite, and more corrosion resistant than most special alloy metals.

Shell-and-Plate Welded Exchangers Handle Tough Duty Applications
Designed as an upgrade over shell-and-tube, block-type welded and brazed aluminum heat exchangers, shell-and-plate welded heat exchangers offers high thermal performance with compact size, low holdup volume and low installed weight, especially when filled. Supermax withstands demanding temperature and pressure extremes due to its robotically welded, accordion-like plate pack. Turbulent flow induced by the corrugated and dimpled plate patterns produces high heat transfer rates.

Heat Exchanger Materials Provide Corrosion Resistance in Tough Applications
In the oil and gas industry, corrosion problems occur because crude oils can be contaminated with naphthenic acid, sulfur, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. The use of duplex stainless steels, high nickel alloys, Hastelloy and titanium provide corrosion resistance for heat exchanger designs.
