Paper Mill Plans Cooking Plant Rebuild
Metso will supply BillerudKorsnäs, Solna, Sweden, with a cooking plant rebuild, a brown stock washing plant and a screening plant for its mill in Gruvön, Sweden. The startup of the rebuilt cooking plant and brown stock washing plant is planned for May 2014; the screening plant startup is planned for May 2015. The Gruvön facility produces kraft paper, sack paper, container board (fluting and liner), liquid carton board, cupstock and market pulp.
According to a company spokesman, the rebuilt cooking plant and new brown stock washing plant will more efficiently utilize wood raw material and reduce chemical consumption in the pulping process. The screening plant will lower energy consumption within the process area.
Among the equipment to be supplied by Metso, based in Helsinki, Finland, is its CompactCooking G2 digester. The order also includes a ImpBin chip impregnation system and a pressure diffuser.
