BASF Total Petrochemicals has started up a 10th furnace at its steam cracker facility in Port Arthur, Texas.

According to the company, the newly commissioned furnace will increase ethylene annual production capacity to around one million metric tons. In 2013, the company revamped the steam cracker to process ethane. 

BASF Total Petrochemicals is a joint venture of BASF and Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA, which own 60 percent and 40 percent respectively.
