Cybercrime and cyber warfare are on the rise, and recent cases of industrial sabotage and espionage have escalated concerns for critical industrial process facilities.
To help address these concerns, Yokogawa Corp. of America, Newnan, Ga., obtained ISASecure Embedded Device Security Assurance (ESDA) certification from the ISA Security Compliance Institute for its Centum VP production control system.
The ISCI promotes security evaluation initiatives and is predominantly composed of ISA members. The ISASecure program has been developed by the ISCI to accelerate the industry-wide improvement of cyber security for industrial automation and control systems (IACS).
The ISASecure EDSA certification has three elements: communication robustness testing (CRT), functional security assessment (FSA), and software development security assessment (SDSA). The certification is based on the IEC 62443-4 standard.
This is the second Yokogawa product to receive the EDSA certification. Its ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system earned its cyber security credentials earlier this year.
