High temperature bearings are specially designed for dry running in temperatures up to 1000ºF (538C) in oxidizing atmospheres and from 350 to 6000ºF (177 to 3316ºC) in nonoxidizing atmospheres. These bearings are not subject to the deficiencies associated with petroleum-based lubricants at elevated temperatures because they rely on graphite for their self-lubricating properties. They also are not subject to melting, softening or deformation, making them suited for use in continuous dryers, kiln cars and high temperature conveyors and ventilation dampers.
