Alfa Laval, Lund, Sweden, has won an order to supply compact heat exchangers for the caustic evaporation plant of AkzoNobel in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The order has a value of approximately $16.5 million. Deliveries are scheduled for 2014 and 2015.

The heat exchangers will be used for concentrating caustic soda for the chemical and petrochemical industries. Waste heat will be recovered and reused during different steps of the evaporation process, maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing energy use.

According to Lars Renström, president and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group, the order is Alfa Laval’s largest caustic installation up to this point.
