TopFrax filters, developed for catalytic hot-gas filtration in the industrial market, remove NOX and particulate matter. Unifrax I LLC, Tonawanda, N.Y., and Haldor Topsoe A/S, Frederikssund, Denmark, have signed an agreement to jointly to market their TopFrax catalytic filter candles.

Global regulations have reduced the permissible levels of particulate and hazardous gas emissions. Haldor Topsoe and Unifrax’s jointly developed technology is intended to address problems related to industrial emissions. The catalytic filter candle is designed to remove NOX and particulate matter, and a version capable of removing VOC, CO and dioxin — generated in many industrial processes — will be introduced.

According to the companies, the filters offer high efficiency filtration of particulate matter (more than 99 percent); NOX removal efficiency (more than 95 percent); low ammonia slip; and filter porosity above 80 percent.
