Stanwell Power Station, one of Queensland, Australia's largest power plants, has begun a condenser retubing project that promises to improve heat transfer and extend equipment operating life. After a formal evaluation of competitive bids, Stanwell Power Station awarded a contract to Conco Systems Pty Ltd., Heatherbrae, NSW, Australia, to design, supply and install condenser tubing in place of the existing condenser tubing.
The four-year project at the 1460-MW-capacity power station will help ensure the continued high operational availability of individual condenser units and reduce the maintenance costs associated with the condensers. One unit per year will be refurbished, with an expected completion date in 2018. In the United States, Conco Services Corp., Verona, Pa, provides tube cleaning, nondestructive testing and leak detection analysis.
