Gas-fired batch oven can be used for hydrogen embrittlement relief of chrome-plated landing gear. During the process, parts are placed on a pallet in the oven for periods up to 24 hr. The heating allows the hydrogen trapped in the chrome plating to be released. With a maximum temperature rating of 500°F (260°C) and a work chamber measuring 7 by 13 by 2.5’, the oven is designed with horizontal airflow. The design is optimal for products arranged on multiple tiers when heated airflow cannot be directed vertically through the product.
