India’s Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has plans to set up a plant-wide fire detection alarm and monitoring system. In addition, dust-suppression systems will be installed in new units to control dust from coal and iron ore storage areas and reduce fugitive emissions.
The facility is undergoing expansion and modernization in an effort to increase capacity from 4 MTPA (million metric tons per annum) to 7 MTPA. BSP also plans to provide a secured landfill site for hazardous waste disposal.
