The company responsible for reportedly the world’s largest trailer-mounted mobile boiler has begun production on what it bills as the world’s largest mobile boiler.

Nationwide Boiler Inc., Fremont, Calif., produced the trailer-mounted mobile boiler unit, a 120,000 lb/hr, 400 psi design saturated steam boiler. The trailer-mounted unit was used in Nationwide Boiler’s rental fleet for 10 years before recently being sold to a brewery in the Southeast.

The new 125,000 lb/hr low NOX O-type boiler being built by Charlotte-based Babcock & Wilcox will be mounted on a custom six-axle low-boy trailer. Designed at 750 psig, the boiler will provide a range of operating pressures for saturated steam applications from 250 to 675 psig. The boiler will be equipped with a low NOX natural gas/future oil burner; forced-draft fan and TEFC motor with variable-frequency drives; fully metered combustion controls; a NEMA 4X panel; EconoStak economizer; stub stack and all flues, ducts and valving. An optional CataStak SCR is available for down to 2.5 ppm NOX requirements.

The boiler system is scheduled to be ready for service this fall and will be available for shipment worldwide.
