A 1,000-hp mobile boiler room built by Nationwide Boiler Inc. and Superior Boiler Works is ready for service. The companies claim it is the first of its kind.
The ASME Section I firetube boiler, ASME spray deaerator and ASME blowdown separator, which were manufactured by Superior Boiler Works, Hutchinson, Kan., required more than a year of custom engineering, planning and production time. Designed at 290 psig with operating pressure capabilities ranging from 100 to 260 psig, it is capable of firing natural gas, propane gas or No. 2 oil.
“With this product, we have pushed the envelope on both size and operating capabilities for a mobile rental unit,” says Larry Day, president and CEO of Nationwide Boiler, Fremont, Calif. The mobile boiler unit can help users meet high capacity, temporary steam requirements.
A custom 53', four-axle container houses the boiler and low NOX, high efficiency Power Flame burner package in addition to the deaerator and triplex feedwater pumps, blowdown separator, chemical feed system and oil pump. Nationwide Boiler’s standard motor control center panel with a Honeywell RM7800 burner-management system with annunciator and a Siemens 353 PID loop controller for parallel positioning combustion control also are included in the mobile unit.
The high efficiency boiler offers an advantage to customers in Texas: With a heat input of less than 40 million BTUs, an air permit is not required for operation during typical rental use.
The system will be stored in Kansas for fast delivery throughout the country.
