ANSI/FCI 13-1, Determining Condensate Loads to Size Steam Traps has been approved as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard.
ANSI/FCI 13-1 was developed by the Cleveland-based Fluid Controls Institute (FCI) to simplify proper determination of condensate loads and to help users estimate condensate loads using generally accepted formulas. The result then is used to size a steam trap with sufficient safety factor to discharge the necessary flow throughout the positive pressure-differential range without being grossly oversized. A properly sized steam trap can provide reliable, efficient function of steam systems and heat transfer processes.
FCI is a nonprofit trade association with a membership that includes manufacturers of fluid control and conditioning equipment such as regulators, pipeline strainers, steam traps, control valves and solenoid valves.
