An industrial oven will be used by a cosmetics company in its aerosol laboratory for shelf-life testing of aerosol cans at 131°F (55°C). The Blue M brand oven was manufactured by Thermal Product Solutions, New Columbia, Pa.

According to TPS, the oven does not have heating elements and hot spots, which are common sources of ignition if an aerosol can leaks or ruptures during shelf-life testing. The design also allows the cosmetic company to process larger quantities of aerosol cans. An LEL monitor manufactured by MSA Safety is installed on the oven to detect hydrocarbon gases that may be released during test. The LEL monitor is set at 5 percent of the lower flammability limit (LFL).
