Throughout 2017, Superior Boiler Works Inc. will celebrate 100 years as a continuously operating business.
The company traces its roots back to Hugh Gass, who opened Superior Welding Shop in Hutchinson, Kan., in 1917. Superior Welding trained welding students during World War II and graduated more than 200 students from its training classes. At around the same time, the company began to engineer and work with boilers and pressure vessels under the leadership of longtime owner Clyde Anderson, and it became known as Superior Boiler Works. Today, the company provides customized, engineered solutions for boiler-related projects involving steam and hot water.
To celebrate its centennial anniversary, Superior Boiler Works plans several events throughout the year involving employees and customers.
