The controls on mid-sized dryers used in plastics applications can be accessed remotely following a systems upgrade by Conair, Cranberry Township, Pa.
Conair added the DC-A control to provide remote access via virtual network computing (VNC). Users can interface with the control using any Internet-connected device, so any operation that can be performed on the dryer interface also can be performed remotely.
The DC-A control is based on the Allen-Bradley micro 850 PLC platform. It has a 7” color display with graphical design, minimal text and no function codes to decipher. It provides descriptive help screens for operators and includes auto-start capabilities and password protection. It also has Conair’s drying monitor capabilities built in.
