Walk-in Oven Heats Wheel Resonators
A small walk-in oven will be used by a Tier 2 automotive manufacturer of air induction system parts and other under-hood components. Built and delivered by Lewco Inc., the electrically heated oven will be used to heat wheel resonators, which are used to reduce tire cavity noise.
The unit has a maximum operating temperature of 350°F (177°C), and it was manufactured and designed to NFPA 86 Class B standards. A top-mounted heater box provides 36 kW of heat input, and a 1,700-cfm high efficiency circulation fan delivers dual airflow to the workspace.
Controls include a Eurotherm Nanodac temperature controller/recorder and a Eurotherm Mini 8 loop controller. All recorded process data is stored in an uneditable format, which was required to meet AMS 2750 pyrometry standards. A 10" touchscreen HMI allows the operator to control all oven operations from a single interface. A redundant high limit controller and emergency stop were provided for safety.
